About Me
My name is Jessica McKinney and I'm the proud owner of Blue Hydrant Pet Care. I have my DBA registered with the state of Texas, I am insured and bonded through Pet Sitter's Associates, and Pet CPR/First Aid certified through Pet Pro Hero. This business is my full time job so your pets will have my full attention throughout the day. Since this is a job for me and I pay taxes my prices are based on an amount that will help support my family. I like to consider myself pretty down to earth and I really love what I do on a daily basis. I started my business because I have been on a few vacations where I found out my sitter was less than trustworthy in showing up and feeding my animals. I understand the stress this can cause when it comes to leaving your extended family for more than a few days. I will strive to make your vacation as stress free for you as possible and ensure your furry friends or non furry friends are taken care of as if you never left. With income concerns and the appreciation of a good pet sitter for my own fur and hooved kids I do not take my job lightly.
I personally own 3 cats (Frank, Mavis, and Fluff Fluff), 2 large dogs (Sprinkles and Skittles), 9 goats, and 4 cows. All my animals are like a part of my family, even my livestock. I feel every animal has a right to a good life and we should thank them for what they provide for us. I absolutely love my job as a pet sitter and feel blessed that I can work with so many animals, large and small.
Recently I closed my business, Jess' Four Paws Pet Sitting, due to a divorce and spent the last 9 months working at Wise County Sheriff's Office. Life has stabilized so I'm restarting my dream job.
In the past I have worked as a kennel tech providing feedings, medication, and play times/walks to a variety of extra small to extra large dogs. I also have livestock experience when I worked at a camp with horses, where I introduced kids to horseback riding, conducted trail riding, fed the horses, and doctored cuts. I also cared for the petting zoo animals that consisted of a calf, bunnies, chickens, goats, and a miniature donkey.
I have experience giving insulin shots, antibiotic shots (Penicillin and Duramycin), Subcutaneous fluids, cleaning out abscesses, treating proud flesh, and administering vaccines/wormers. All of this was done under vet supervision. They showed me once and I finished treatment. So with proper instruction I can continue most treatments in your absence. I'm not a vet but I love animals and I can follow directions. I have a passion for animals and want to make sure they are given the proper care to ensure they are healthy.
I update my clients with texts and/or pictures to make them feel less stressed while they are on vacation. All new clients get a free Meet & Greet so you can meet me and introduce me to your pets and their routine. This meeting is mandatory but I can schedule this during your busy schedule.
